3D Cape - new premises

3D Cape, one of the leading turnkey suppliers to the exhibitions industry, has moved into new premises at 102 Capricorn Drive, Capricorn Business Park. Its telephone and fax numbers are unchanged at 021-7021089 and 021-7021537 respectively.

According to director, Andrew Keymer, the move was necessitated by the expansion of its Custom Division and quicker-than-expected growth of the company over the past six years, which put pressure on available space resources.

“Although we secured the neighbouring building in our previous premises in Westlake over two years ago, this proved to be a short-term solution as the space restrictions were curtailing our growth potential. We therefore opted to make the move to a larger space a full year ahead of the timeline we’d prepared when we first began trading,” he said.

The 3155m2 building is a standalone unit on a 5300m2 plot in Capricorn Business Park near to the Marina da Gama residential area and waterways in the southern part of the Southern Suburbs.

The park is serviced by Prince George Drive which becomes the M5 freeway, giving direct access to both the N1 and N2 highways leading to and from the city.

3D Cape’s new premises here provide extensive loading and logistic facilities through five load bay areas as well as ample staff and customer parking.

It’s large enough to house all 3D Cape’s divisions under one roof – 3D Shell, 3D Custom, 3D Furniture Hire, 3D Electrical, 3D Print and 3D Design.

“The main factory floor of 2150m2 is configured to accommodate dedicated areas for shop-fitting and custom production, shell infrastructure, system design, electrical equipment and furniture storage, as well as give us the extensive pulling bays and pre-build areas we need to accommodate the quick-turnarounds we are often contracted to pull-off,” added Keymer.

“For example, we have already had six projects being pre-built simultaneously, where previously we were only able to accommodate one at a time. This immensely improves efficiency and quality control, ultimately ensuring smooth and efficient site build-ups.

“Our printing and graphics resources are accommodated in a dedicated climate-controlled area, and there are secure storage facilities for audio visual and other specialised equipment. Administration and sales areas are housed on the first floor and overlook the main factory areas.

“Simply put, the benefits of the move include better capacity, control and quality; better staff recreation areas and more ergonomically efficient working areas; and there’s room for expansion. It all adds up to 3D Cape being able to add greater depth to its turn-key solutions portfolio,” he said.
